Title: Reduced Responsibility through Supply Chain Design

Abstract
Much of supply chain research is concerned with improving efficiency and effectiveness. It includes issues such as strategic alignment, manufacturing location, and flow efficiency. Recently, various internal and external stakeholders have asserted pressure on companies to take increased responsibility for the effects that the supply chain has on society and the environment. This can be seen in legislation and through the actions of consumer advocacy groups. Unfortunately, many supply chains are poorly capable of living up to these demands, because the supply chains are not designed for responsibility – but for profit. As a result, non-compliance with responsibility guidelines has been considered to be the norm rather than the exception, and when responsibility is taken the supply chain is poorly capable of keeping costs in check. The lecture will give an insight into how supply chain design can dull the sense of responsibility for people in the supply chain, and highlight some specifically challenging areas inherent to global supply chains.

Datum: 30 maj 2018

Tid: Kaffe från 14.30. Seminarium kl. 15.00 - 17.00. Därefter mingel med dryck och enklare tilltugg.

Plats: Internationella Handelshögskolan i Jönköping, vån 3, sal Studion.

Medverkande: Anders Jonsson och Caroline Jonsson, Rototilt AB. Annika Hall, CeFEO.

Trial lecture for the position as associate professor in Product Development

Joel Johansson will hold a trial lecture for the position of Associate Professor in Product Development. Title: "Design Automation - Practical Examples and Identified Challenges"

Abstract

Mass-customization is one of the most important production strategy for manufacturing companies to stay competitive today. Its primary objective is to maximize customer satisfaction by providing customer specific solutions with near mass-production efficiency. Companies that succeeded to reap the benefits of mass-customization decades could in many segments secure a competitive advantage and outpace their competitors. To achieve a high degree of product customization (or even personalization) an increasing number of companies automate their engineering processes so that the customization is based not merely on standardized pre-manufactured modules but also on technical solutions adapted to each specific order. This movement is commonly referred to as design automation and has its roots not only in mechanical engineering but also in computer science. The lecture gives you inspiring examples of how engineering design automation can be applied in practice and points out challenges currently faced by academia and industry.

The American youth organization Up with People started in 1965 and still today provides the opportunity for young people aged 17-29 years to travel the world for 6-12 months. The ambition is to create understanding and connection between different cultures.

Up with People are on a constant world tour and uniquely captures the power of music to open the door for dialogue and heightened social awareness. They travel with a professionally-produced two-hour musical concert that goes beyond entertainment to inspiration. Now, Up with People have finally arrived to Jönköping and will perform at Culture on Campus with a multi-cultural show that reflects the world we live. Since the beginning, more than 1.1 billion people in over 70 countries have seen the group's performances. Do not miss this energy filled half-hour!

Culture on Campus - Songs that changed the world

Music may in some cases make you dance and, at best, even touch an emotional string. But can a song really change the world? Throughout history we have seen how music brought people together and united groups for a common cause.

Now, when it comes to social change the old saying “the pen is mightier than the sword” can definitely hold true. This Culture on Campus we will listen to songs that broke barriers, which led to change. The songs that’s going to be performed is purely subjective, completely arbitrary and absolutely unscientifically chosen, but one thing is certain - they have had a strong impact on their era.

A warm welcome to the university library Wednesday November 21 at 1200. Enjoy the to tones that changed the world!

Culture on Campus - The Moniker

In Sweden there is a saying that a loved child has many names. Daniel Karlsson also known as The Moniker or Plastic Messiah started his music career when he participated in the TV show Idol in 2007.

After a few albums and a third place 2011 in the Swedish song contest “Melodifestivalen”, The Moniker, who originates from Norrahammar, is now a well-known name in Sweden.

The music career continues to move forward, not least through his alias Plastic Messiah with interpretations of a selection of songs from Eminem's catalog. The artist's name is inspired by Robert Broberg's "Song to a Plastic Messiah". Daniel is now up to date with tribute concerts to the artist Robert Broberg who passed away 2015.

Daniel is also a songwriter for other artists such as Shirley Clamp. Now it’s time for another mark in his career as he appears on Culture on Campus on December 5th.

Welcome to the university library Wednesday 12!
