Özge Öner - a post-doctoral alumni student talks about strategies for an international career (8/5)

Özge Öner is currently a University Lecturer at the University of Cambridge, Department of Land Economy, and a fellow at Sidney Sussex College in Cambridge. She is also a Research Fellow at Research Institute of Industrial Economics in Stockholm (IFN) and an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Spatial Economics (CEnSE) at JIBS in Sweden. Özge obtained her PhD in Economics in 2014 from JIBS and her PhD thesis, titled “Retail Location” focused on the spatial patterns of retailing in Sweden. Her research is rooted in Urban and Regional Economics and deals with issues related to migration, labour mobility, micro-geography of ethnic enclaves and segregation, retail and service geography, urban amenities, as well as the geography of entrepreneurship and geography of voting. She has spent part of her PhD studies at the Regional Economics Applications Laboratory of the University of Illinois. She is a former recipient of Handelsbanken Wallander post-doctoral scholarship in Sweden and the Young Investigator award in Italy. She is a co-editor for the flagship journal of the European Regional Science Association, REGION, and she also writes monthly columns for SvD (The Swedish Daily).
