Alumni of the Year ceremony

For the third year in a row, Jönköping University (JU) will award the Alumni of the Year during a ceremony to be held on Tuesday, October 3. Incoming Executive Vice President Salem Seifeddine, together with a representative from each school, will hand out awards to the five alumni of the year 2023. The ceremony is followed by a panel discussion led by Andreas Torén, Student Support, where the alumni will talk about their experiences from the university, from their professional lives, and give some useful tips for current students.

Career Center is offering a session for CV-photography this autumn!

You will have the chance to take a professional photo for your Cv and LinkedIn-profile. The session will be arranged as a drop-in session so first come, first served. You need to be a JU student to take your photo.

Curious about an international career at the EU-institutions? 

How does the EU work and what is it like to work for the EU institutions? What are the traineeship and career opportunities waiting there for you? 

On Wednesday 4 October, representatives from the European Parliament, the Swedish Institute for European Policy Studies (Sieps) and the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) will come to Jönköping University to meet with those who are curious about the traineeship and career opportunities in the EU institutions. You will be able to participate in a crash course on the EU held by Anna Wetter Ryde , researcher at Sieps. You will also meet Björn Kjellström , who will tell you more about what it is like to work at the European Parliament and European Commission and Asia Riazantceva , an expert at UHR, who will provide you with information on how to apply for a job or a traineeship at the EU institutions.

  • Lecture by Carolina Carvalho

Carolina Carvalho holds a DSc in Environmental Planning (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – UFRJ, Brazil), with a research period at the Royal Institute of Technology (Tekniska Kunliga högskolan – KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. She conducted postdoctoral research using Participatory Geographic Information Systems (PGIS) applied to urban governance, at the Public Health Faculty (University of Sao Paulo) and Aalto University, Espoo, Finland. Currently, she is a researcher at the Institute of Environment and Energy, of São Paulo University and founder of the Comunidades Vivas – Mapeamento Participativo, an initiative that brings participatory mapping as a tool for urban planning improvements, focusing on citizen engagement for better and healthy cities (www.comunidadesvivas.com.br).

Additive Manufacturing (AM), often referred to as 3D printing, has emerged in recent years with the promise to transform the world of manufacturing and production. This technology offers unprecedented design and customization flexibility, capable of reshaping industries ranging from aerospace and healthcare to automotive and consumer goods. However, this has not happened yet. The paradigm shift is not without its unique set of challenges and opportunities that demand careful attention.

This talk will delve into the multifaceted landscape of Additive Manufacturing, exploring the challenges faced by businesses and industries seeking to harness its potential. General opportunities that AM presents will be illuminated and an industrial case study will be presented.
