MMTCs DMI Research Seminar - Models, Misfires, and Meaningful Nulls: Computational Explorations in Platform Governance ResearchMMTC's DMI Research Seminar – Models, Misfires, and Meaningful Nulls: Computational Explorations in Platform Governance Research Presented by Maria Arango-Kure
In this seminar, Maria opens the garage door on their computational workflow. Drawing on a longitudinal study of platform governance, they present three modelling efforts: a multi class transformer classifier for identifying organizational values in corporate text, a clickbait classifier to trace editorial shifts over time, and embedding based topic models for analysing legitimation strategies. Maria walks through what worked, what did not, and what remains to be seen. Going over the practical decisions behind each approach, including corpus construction, annotation, model selection, parameter tuning, and validation, and what happens when the computational part runs beautifully but the interpretive work reveals that there is, substantively, nothing there. The session creates space for an honest conversation about operationalizing abstract concepts, diagnosing model behaviour, and interpreting meaningful null results in computational platform research. Date & time: March 4th, 13:15–14:45 (online)
The Data Methods Initiative is a collaborative academic group committed to fostering innovation in social science research - Our seminars provide a space for researchers to share their work, explore innovative data methods, and engage in meaningful discussions. Trial lecture for appointment as Associate Professor - Paraskeva WlazlakWelcome to Paraskeva Wlazlak's Trial Lecture for appointment as Associate Professor in Integrated Product and Production Development, March 11, 11-12 am in E1405 (Gjuterisalen)! Title Integrated Product Realisation for Sustainable Engineering Abstract Integrated product realisation is essential for enabling sustainable engineering as manufacturing companies move toward circular business models and face increasing regulatory demands. This field examines how effective integration between product and production development supports smooth industrialisation while advancing sustainability goals. The research highlights organisational methods, processes, and mechanisms that facilitate collaboration across diverse engineering disciplines, with boundary objects playing a key role in enhancing knowledge integration and shared understanding. Adopting a sociotechnical perspective, the work emphasises the interdependencies among people, processes, and technology that are necessary for sustainable engineering solutions. By promoting cohesive and knowledge-rich collaboration, integrated product realisation becomes a critical enabler for achieving sustainable and circular solutions within modern manufacturing. Welcome to attend the lecture!

Go Exchange fair on campusIt’s almost time for the campus to buzz with a truly international atmosphere. On Wednesday 5 of March, 11.00 - 13.00, it is time for our Go Exchange fair. The fair will be held in the HLK entrance hall.
This is an opportunity for the exchange students that are currently studying at Jönköping University to promote our partner universities as well as share their wonderful experiences from studying abroad. The purpose of the fair is to inspire other students at JU to take the opportunity to study abroad as well as encourage a curiosity to learn about the many different cultures we have on campus. At 12:15, in room E1022. International Office will have an information session for all JU students interested in exchange studies. All students and staff are welcome to come, learn and be inspired.

MMTC research Seminar presented by Lucia Pizzichini - Tourist Sport Engagement in the Phygital Era: Linking Digital Sport Technologies and Revisit IntentionMMTC Seminar presented by Lucia Pizzichini (based on a working paper being presented at the American Phygital Association Conference by Lucia and Adele Berndt.) Title: Tourist Sport Engagement in the Phygital Era: Linking Digital Sport Technologies and Revisit Intention Description: This study examines how phygital sport tourism—defined as sport experiences practiced in a specific destination and enhanced by digital tools—strengthens tourist sport engagement, conceptualized as the sustained cognitive, emotional, and behavioural involvement (including socially expressed behaviours such as sharing achievements via digital platforms) of individuals in sport activities performed during travel. The study specifically investigates how the use of digital applications and technologies (e.g., GPS-based platforms, gamified sport apps, AR-supported trails) deepens engagement with sport practice in place and, in turn, fosters revisit intention.

Seminar: Co-production leadership in healthcareThe seminar will present results from a research project about co-production leadership in healthcare. Constructive developmental theory was used to uncover two distinct ways leaders make sense of their collaborative work. A follow-up practical application of findings points to ways that a reflective practice can enhance personal growth. Verna DeLauer, Ph.D. Bio Verna: Dr. Verna DeLauer holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resource Management and is a Professor at Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire. She teaches a variety of courses and her research explores the processes by which individuals construct meaning and identity through their interactions with both built and natural environments.
